Jan Lund In his Own Words

A little something about me.

I started my vocal training at the music academy, by studying the piano for 7 years at the academy of music!

Having earned my diplomas in both piano and song at the Academy of Music, Aalborg I was engaged at The Royal Danish Opera. I left the Royal Opera house after three fine years, because the life of a free-lance opera singer had so much more appeal to me.

After my studies at the academy of music I have studied in Copenhagen with the vocal coaches Tonny Landy, prof. Kirsten Buhl Møller and Susanna Eken. In London I have studied with Thomas Hemsly, and on several occasions in Rome with Angelo degl´Innocenti and Margareth Genovesi-Baker.

In my career I have received several prices and awards i.e. Aalborg Symphony Orchestra – “Young Talent 1993”, Spies Fonden – “Singer of the year 1994”, Queen Ingrid’s Roman Fond.

Together with the soprano Elsebeth Dreisig I founded the small but very progressive opera company; DogmeOpera as well as the song duo; duettenpåpletten.dk

Parallel to my singing-career I made a masters degree in “Elite Vocal-Teaching” from The Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2009. Following that directly I was employed as a vocal-teacher the very same place.

Privately I’m married to the opera singer, director, set designer and painter! Mikael Melbye. We live in a wonderful penthouse apartment in the center of Copenhagen, with a stunning view of the towers of Copenhagen and the waterfront…
